I am a chick who calls the Midwest my home, born and raised in Illinois. My friends all tell me I'm "very Midwestern," and I didn't really know what that meant, so I googled it like you do when you want to know the answer to anything. I found a t-shirt that reads "good, solid, corn-fed, fun-loving, up-for-anything, all-American Midwestern girl," and if that's what it means to be very Midwestern, I totally am. That was pretty much the only definition I found. I kept googling "typical Midwestern girl" and couldn't actually find any other definition, just girls referring to themselves as a typical Midwestern girl. So I'm sticking with that definition. It sounds right to me.
I work at my "real job" in radio, which I am very lucky to enjoy, and do graphic design and illustration work in my free time. I got my AA in 2004 and my BA with a minor in Psychology in 2009 and am currently doing absolutely nothing with either of my degrees! I have lots of hobbies and interests in a variety of things, like knitting, music, video games, running, cooking, baking, Mountain Dew, and much more. In 2010 I ran my first 5K and am training for my first half-marathon in 2011.
Auggie is the first dog that has ever been totally, 100% mine and the first dog I've ever done any kind of competition with. He's taught me a lot of things over the past five years we've been together. I never imagined when I decided I wanted my own little sheltie how much was life was about to change. Agility, competitive obedience, herding sheep, training silly dog tricks, nosegames and tracking - none of this was on my mind. All I knew was that my life was empty without a dog, and I needed to bring one home. I got a real handful when I picked out little Auggie and an introduction to a whole different world of dog ownership - and I'm glad to have Auggie with me on my journey.
